Adobe has rolled out two new versions of the primary workhorses in their digital video toolbox: Premiere Pro and After Effects 6.
Premiere Pro offers a whole slew of performance and interface enhancements, including optimization for machines running Windows XP. Curiously, though, Adobe has announced that they are no longer developing Premiere for Mac users. This is no doubt due to the growing marketing share of Apple's hugely popular and Mac-only NLE Final Cut Pro.
After Effects 6 also features many interface and performance enhancements not the least of which is the long over due support for Open GL. Finally, a user's video card can be used to boost rendering performance without relying on the processor alone. This has been SOP in the 3d animation world for years and its about time the AE catches up.
Adobe also announced a new version of the Adobe Video Collection which includes two new apps: Adobe Encore DVD for DVD authoring and Adobe Audition for multi-track audio editing.
