Adobe this week has a released a new plug-in for Photoshop 7 to enable image editors access to the RAW image data usually found in midrange to professional level digital cameras, directly from Photoshop.
Most consumer level cameras immediately convert image data to the JPEG or TIFF format and in some ways could be considered a generation loss. Allowing access to the RAW data is akin to a professional darkroom technician printing from an original archival negative as opposed to printing from an interneg made from a positive print.
The plug-in can be downloaded for $99.
