So, my son's birthday is December 26th. Yes, the day after Christmas. And since he has wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, we had a great many Christmas and birthday presents to open and assemble.
I've noticed a very disturbing new trend in toy packaging: little annoying wires that are used to hold the toys and their various accessories in place. Can I tell you how crazy these things are? I will bet I untwisted 50 of these over the holidays.
These wires, along with the vacuum-formed plastic containers that now seem to surround all new action figures and personal electronic goods that you have to open with a pair of hedge clippers, represent a bad trend in design. At one time, there were actual cardboard boxes that were used to hold toys and gifts that you could easily open. And, best of all, you didn't have to destroy the box trying to get it open, thereby leaving you with a box that you could still use to store your precious new Christmas toy.
Phew, ok... rant is over. Thanks for listening.
