The above image was created using my own handwriting font from Fontifier.com. All that's required is to print a template, fill in samples of your own handwriting and then upload a scan of that template back to their site. A new truetype font file is created for your instantly.
I think the results are ok. I don't know how much of this is dependent upon my sample that I uploaded, but I thought the font was a little rough around the edges and didn't seem to have a lot of resolution. It might require several attempts with different weight pens and different amounts of pressure when creating the writing sample.
Still, if you need a quick and easy font of someone's handwriting then this is probably a good solution. Especially if you don't feel like going the Fontographer route which, while giving you a much higher quality result, probably has a steeper learning curve.
Fontifier vs Fontographer:
$0.00 vs $349.00 - the other reason for not going the Fontographer route...
Good point.
I may try another template and this time use a different pen. For this first test I used a fine point Sharpie. I may need to use something with a thicker point.
