It's been a few years since Canon has updated its classic XL1 series of DV camcorder. I own the XL1 (not the 's' version, alas) and a few lenses and I love the camera. It's quite functional, has a great feel and really gives me good results. Plus I love the ergonomics of how it feels on my shoulder.
At work we have an XL1, but most of our new gear tends to be Sony with the most recent addition being the PD170. While I admit the 170 is a great camera it still has that "eyepiece behind the camera feel" that I'm not really crazy about. But there are some things about it that are nice that I'm hoping will appear in the long-rumored replacement for the XL1 series, the aptly-named XL2.
