Macromedia has published a flash movie that resembles a little flip book to evangelize the use of video in Flash and showcase some examples. At this point they are really trying to push beyond the old school method of video in Flash whereby you simply imported frames from your video app, or a Quicktime file, and placed them in a graphics clip. Today, Macromedia is really pushing the use of FLV files and their Flash Comm Server and hooking up with partners like VitalStream to push Flash video to the next level.
I've been experimenting with it both at work on my own. I'm excited by the potential but there are still just enough licensing costs and restrictions to make it unpleasant for the average user, let alone a huge corporation mired in the world of "safe, friendly" Micro$oft apps.
Sidebar: the page flip metaphor in Flash is a cute idea but hard to execute and I think frustrating for the user. I couldn't get the pages to flip by hand very well, so I just used the back / next buttons.
