I've had my iPod going on about six weeks now and I'm still working out the best ways to use it in conjunction with my lifestyle. Case in point, as far as I can tell, the iPod needs to be synced with only one computer at a time. So, my home computer is my iPod base of operations; it's where I buy music from iTunes Music Store and it's where I dock my iPod. But, at work I've got iTunes installed and use headphones to listen to music all day while I'm working on various Flash and video production projects. (in addition to my music collection there, I'm also listening to a handful of coworkers iTunes libraries via the magic of Rendezous.)
But my music collection there doesn't include all the new material I've purchased via ITMS that lives on my iPod. I wonder what the best way is to keep two computers in sync. Is it even possible? I've been looking at some of the ipodlounge tutorials for help, but so far... nothing addresses this exact concern.
The other area where I've been using my iPod is in the car thanks to the iTrip from Griffin. I admit, I was at first quite taken with how cool the iTrip looked, but after using it in my Civic I'm not really that thrilled with the quality of the sound streaming through my car stereo. I can't seem to find any available FM frequency that will give me a clean sound. Between songs and during quieter ballads, background noise is very noticeable and very annoying.
I think if my car had a cassette player I would go with the old-fashioned cassette adapter that served me well back in the Sony Discman days before I had a CD player installed in my car. As it is the iTrip is a little less that crisp. Also the way in which you choose which frequency to use by selecting it from an iTrip playlist is a bit klugy. It's difficult to change frequency while driving and since that playlist directory appears just like any other playlist, it really throws a kink into things when I want to use the shuffle tunes option of my iPod.
