About 18 months ago I saved up a bit of freelance money and bought a small Canon Elura 50 digital camcorder. I have other DV cameras for freelance work and for video projects, but I really needed something small, palm-sized that I could easily stick in my pocket for family outings.
The Elura 50 fit the bill perfectly and worked quite well for about 1 year exactly before going on the fritz. Needless to say this caused a lot of frustration as our new daughter was getting older everyday and precious moments were passing us by undocumented on videotape.
Well, to make a long story short, I finally got around to sending the camera off for repair, and I have to say was totally pleased with the great customer service I got from the Canon Corporation. I got my camcorder back to the house in less than two weeks completely repaired, cleaned, overhauled and working great. And, best of all, they didn't charge me a dime, even though the warranty had expired. I suppose they figured it was worth the small expense on their part to keep this customer satisfied.
