This interview with Magnum photographer Alex Majoli proves that great photography, just like great movies or great music, is not always about the technology. Not always. Sure, there are times when having the right piece of technology is critical to making a specific type of movie, photograph or song. But people often assume that having great technology assumes great results.
Well, here's an award-winning photojournalist who goes against the current trend of high-dollar digital SLR cameras in favor of smaller, less conspicuous point-and-shoot digital cameras.
Whenever I'm reading on this sort of less-is-more topic, I always think about my college friend David. Even in school he was a great, innovative journalist always able to make amazing photographs with old, brassed out Nikons that were never that fancy. His photos always had a life, that certain something, that made them stand out.
