I've been making some little tweaks here and there under the hood here at stevesmart.com lately, including to the search results page. Until today, the search tool only searched this main blog, not SmartLinks or Lightbox. Figuring out how to edit the search template to include those other blogs was a piece of cake but the results were all crammed into the same style template.
Well, a little love from MTCompare (which I had already been using for blending the main weblog and smartLinks content together on the homepage) and all was right. Now the search results are nicely grouped into blog categories with each blog's results having their only style as appropriate.
(I've also added the search form to the homepage and the smartLinks archives along with the ability to target the search to any of the three primary blogs)
Also, in a bit of old-school web design, I've randomized the photo banner at the top of all the stevesmart.com pages. There are only three eight images in the banner rotation so far, but go ahead and refresh away and kick it 1999 style.
Are you saying that one of my all-time favorite tricks is "old-school?!?" Sheesh... I am so out of the loop.
