Macromedia has updated their stats page showing Flash player penetration. Since initially being released in September of last year, Flash Player 8 has already achieved nearly 50% penetration.
I think this is a remarkable amount of growth and it speaks volumes to the advanced made in this latest version of the Flash Player as well as the Flash Authoring Tool. In addition to all the changes to ActionScript, the new ways that Flash Video is being handled via VP6 codec and new media components really make this a strong platform.
I'm already using Flash 8 video for my 2005 demo reel and I'm soon going to launch a complete video and film portfolio on this site as well as videos on our family blog. So, if you haven't already done so, be the first kid on your blog... er, rather... block to upgrade to Flash Player 8.
Hi Steve,
That's a nice showreel you've put together there. Impressive motion graphics. Great to see a bit of Recon3 in there aswell which lead me to your site here in the first place years ago. As far back as when it was still www.inproduction.com. What struck me was how much better that footage looked in your showreel than the 15fps heavily pixelated version at ifilm. You don't happen to have a higher resolution version of Recon3 than can be downloaded by any chance? It's still one of my favourite fan films to be honest, and would be great to view with more detail visible.
Cheers,
Glenn
