While reading up on Apple a bit while I count my pennies and save for a new iMac, I found that Apple will recycle your old computer for you and even pay for shipping via FedEx. (CRTs too!) This really helps me out of a jam as I was unsure what to do with my old PC other than make a rather large doorstop out of it. I didn't feel right simply tossing it into the garbage can and having it end up in a landfill. (Plus, that's not always legal, either)
I've actually got two old PCs that I'm getting rid of before my Mac arrives and recently I powered up my old Windows 98 machine to archive some of the old files before I cleaned off the harddrives. Having used Win XP at work and home exclusively for the last several years, I had sort of forgotten how "zippy" the win98 UI was by comparison. The Win XP UI (with the full XP skin activated) is really pokey and slow.
