Crusty Crayfish

I found this poor guy baking on an extremely hot sidewalk not far from a large pond that probably had been his home. I'm not sure how long he had been there, but obviously, he wasn't going to make it home again.

For some reason I really love the very narrow depth-of-field on this image. I made this shot with my 70-200mm at 200mm and all the way open and the camera sitting right on the ground. I had to basically lay on the ground to get the angle. I made a few shots standing up from a 3/4 angle looking down slightly and those just didn't seem that dynamic. Dropping the camera right to the ground made it really jump out.

When I was kid we called these Crawdads, but according to Wikipedia, both names mean the same.
