While waiting in the baggage claim area of the Austin airport, I noticed this statue of Barbara Jordan, a political hero from Texas.
For me, I go back and forth on photos like this since there is no real event or "moment" being captured. The success of a still-life photo like this (if any) exists solely as a result of composition and choice of angle. Standing there in the airport at 11pm the first thing that struck me about this statue (which was about 1.5 times life size) was her strong hands and powerful stare which is what I chose to photograph. Thoughts?
I think this image works well. Certainly the glazing stare draws the viewers eye into the photo.
Spooky. Looks like it's real and is going to jump out of the picture. Say thanks to the DOF.
ahh now theres a clever angle and nicely done framing. great shot.
Amazing! First I thought that this is a man and he is alive - just doing a kind of performance with body painting... Then I read the image info. Wow. You did a phantastic job. Great perspective and DOF.
This is a great photo. I have very much enjoyed looking through a great deal of your images and have been very impressed with the vibrancy of the colors, unique angles, and just the overall emotion of it all. I really wish that you had the camera exif info available since I am very much still an amateur and trying to see what camera settings people are using for specific shots. (My photoblog site is guilty of this as well!)
wow this guy just creeps me out! if I saw this statue in person, i probably would still be creeped out, too! Excellent angle and color!
Really nice shot. The angle and framing are great.
