This is not the ideal way to photograph miniature train layouts: handholding a 200mm lens, wide open at f2.8 at 1/60 of a second in a sort of dark room. But, I found an angle that put the tracks between me and a large window on the far wall that gave me the nice reflections on the track rail, and I think the wide aperature turns the foreground and background rails into an interesting graphic element. This particular layout is an HO scale set that my son and I saw at the Adventure Science Center last weekend. They had some nice setups all over the museum, everything from G scale to N scale. And for the first time, I discovered there's actually a Z scale. It's smaller than N, incredible! Here's a list of all the model railroad scales.
