Stabilimenta

An Orb-type spider photographed right in our own backyard. Seriously, right behind the swing set. The zig-zag pattern in the web is known as stabilimenta and apparently helps spiders catch more prey.

This spider is some sort of orb spider but I'm not sure of it's specific name? Any clues out there?
