August 29, 2006 | Veggie Tales, produced by Bid Idea based close by in Franklin, Tenn., has always lived in the domain of direct-to-DVD sales. Starting September 9th, they will have a Saturday morning show on NBC. (link) (#)
August 28, 2006 | Great feature that apparently was being asked for by users for a while. I would like to see a future version of ssp that would let you dock the thumbnail slide vertically. (link) (#)
August 25, 2006 | Spending time in libraries, poring over books like these, was how I spent many a warm summer day when I was kid. In grade school, my friends always teased me about my fondness for Have Spacesuit Will Travel and other classic works. (link) (#)
August 25, 2006 | Lee Brimelow is looking for someone to help him host his successful gotoandLearn Flash tutorial site. The tutorials are so successful he can't afford the bandwidth.
UPDATE: 2Advanced.net has stepped up and offered to host all the GotoAndLearn tutorials for free. yay. 2Advanced, the studio, has been around since the early days of Flash and they've always kicked butt in the way of old-school, ultra-geeky swooshy animation. Turns out they also have a hosting company. (link) (#)

August 21, 2006 | An online word processor that supports blog posting, simple formatting, multiple users and version control. Nice. (link) (#)
August 21, 2006 | Rosenthal shot the very famous image of Marines raising the United States flag at Iwo Jima, which also has a bit of controversy around it. (link) (#)
August 17, 2006 | Sample: Suddenly, IAN unleashes some force lightning on SAMUEL, which he absorbs into his lightsaber and somehow pushes back onto IAN, which causes him to grow old, apparently. Despite this, IAN refuses to stop doing it.

August 17, 2006 | For comparison, here's the Moon Landing entry. Also, for a completely bizarre take on this check out this fine short film from Evan Mather. (link) (#)
August 17, 2006 | I'm a bit biased on this one since the photos and video are by my college friend, former roommate and wedding groomsman Rick Loomis. More on Rick here at DigitalJournalist. (link) (#)

August 9, 2006 | Pretty great idea. I run a few days a week over lunch and I entered in the route we take and the distance measurements seem to match up pretty well. The UI is still a little flaky, I couldn't easily figure out how to stop a recording. But a great start.
UPDATE: I did figure out how to save your routes. You have to click on the Finishing milestone and select Save. duh. If you're logged into the system you can save your routes for all to see. Here's a route I just created that details a run we do here at the office over lunch. (link) (#)
August 9, 2006 | After setting the bar so high on extras and behind-the-scenes features with their other feature films, this DVD from pixar seems very slim. Too bad. But, probably means that a special edition is coming shortly on its heels. (link) (#)
August 8, 2006 | Other tutorials are here as well. (link) (#)
August 8, 2006 | I was never really aware of this sort of thing, but wow, looking at this group of toss photos on Flickr, I'm really seeing how this is a cool & crazy way to get some really interesting photos. (link) (#)
August 8, 2006 | I love the service (and value!) that I get with Dreamhost. I use them for all of my sites and several clients as well. Though they've lately had their share of bad luck regarding power issues at the LA data center, they're keeping to their usual MO by disclosing a lot of details in their usual hilarious manner. If you're in the market for hosting, please do yourself a favor and consider Dreamhost. (link) (#)
