December 30, 2006 | I love these cars from Smart and I can't wait to see how they do here in the US. While in Canada recently, I saw two on the way from the airport to the hotel. They look great and sporty and like something from a sci-fi movie. Plus, they get great mileage. I know they are successful in Europe, but I will be curious to see how they do in our 'bigger is better, SUV-centric" society. (link) (#)
December 22, 2006 | If you use a Canon BG-E2 battery grip with your EOS 20d or 30d, you might be eligible for a free replacement. Apparently there have been reports of an electictrical problem that causes the camera to think its batteries are dead when they are really fully charged. (link) (#)
December 21, 2006 | I love watching these shows every year around Christmas, there always very well produced with a really amazing collection of presenters and well produced bios of the honorees. However, I think Jessica Simpson is not enjoying herself this year as she tries to honor Dolly Parton. (link) (#)
December 21, 2006 | Generally not well thought of so far. I agree they are pretty bland and square. But, they might be easier to read and recognize as compared to the current icons which are a little tricky to differentiate. Here's the color wheel of the whole family. One additional thought about his new, post-merger, Adobe: I love how they are a lot more open with sharing works-in-progress and glimpses behind-the-scenes. I think that's a little bit of the Macromedia mojo showing through. (link) (#)
December 15, 2006 | Good bedside reading there, as well as good resources here too. (link) (#)
December 15, 2006 | For both Mac (Universal!) and Windows. Requires a valid serial number for CS2 or one of the production suites that you submit via this page to receive a beta serial. John Nack, project manager for Photoshop, has a nice roundup of links and previews on his blog. (link) (#)
December 14, 2006 | Yay, can't wait to see the first glimpse of the rumored new UI that harks of After Effects 7 as well as finally get to see a universal binary version on my mac. (link) (#)
December 12, 2006 | Another preset from Stu Maschwitz of the Orphanage, this time to add a cool film burn in to the heads and tails of your DV clip. (fyi... Stu also has a video podcast under his proLost banner.) (link) (#)
December 12, 2006 | As written by Stu Maschwitz a co-founder of the Orphanage visual effects firm and a former ILMer. (oh, and Stu has a blog) (link) (#)
December 12, 2006 | I found this while searching for winter snowflake brush sets last night. Speaking of which, here are some good ones, as well as a whole set of links to various snow and ice effects. (link) (#)
December 12, 2006 | No new features, but seems to update a ton of stability issues. (link) (#)
December 12, 2006 | He's already sold out of his first run, so you can't get one for Christmas, but I think he's going to order more for a future run. Blurb is the publishing service he's using. Having just ordered my first iPhoto book, I'm curious to see what how a Blurb book compares. (link) (#)
December 7, 2006 | Small, battery powered, strobes are featured mostly here as this site features a lot of great, real-world examples of quick lighting on the go as written by a daily news photojournalist for the Baltimore Sun. (link) (#)
December 5, 2006 | Adobe will release CS3 in the spring of '07 (C'mon, universal binary!) and should feature a new UI that is similar to the new After Effects 7 styled interface which is long over due. The new Live Filters option is something I've hoped for years and sounds like it will operate in much the same way as the non-destructive Adjustment Layers in AE. (link) (#)
